Photographed directly to the right is the common miniature chocolate cake and slice sitting on plates with golden silverware produced by Arcadia, an American pottery company in the 1940s-50s.  This set is so common that most collectors of Arcadia miniature salt & pepper shakers already own it.

But did you know that there was a Japan import knock off version of the Arcadia mini chocolate cake?  The set is so similar, but if you look closely you can see the Japan import set has "bumps" on the top of the cake including in the very center.  This sets often have a Japan paper label as well.  The Japan knock off sets come in 4 different colors:  one identical chocolate cake and three birthday looking cakes decorated in yellow, blue, and pink frosting.  All four sets are photographed below.  These Japan sets are ironically much harder to find then the Arcadia version.

Both the Arcadia set and Japan knock off sets are the exact same size with the exact same pour hole pattern (1 and 1).

Another Japan import knock off miniature cake set was decorated with white frosting and topped with flowers.  On page 27 of Sylvia Tompkins & Larry Carey's 1005 Salt & Pepper Shakers reference book on miniature S&P sets, you can see pictured that this cake came with three different sayings written in gold on the top: 1. "Best Wishes" 2. "Happy Birthday" and 3. "Happy Anniversary".
